Doing the Work

A professor I deeply admire and respect once said to me that the book I’m looking for someone else to write is the book waiting to be written by me.  This has sat with me over the past couple years.  And while this blog is not a book, I have applied this principle to founding Will You Be Whole Ministries.

All of my life I have been searching for a consistent safe space to talk about the challenges and concerns relating to my sexual self and Christian identity.  And since I haven’t found it I finally mustered up enough courage, stepped out on faith and created this space.

Wholeness is a journey, not a destination.

None of us can sojourn alone.  We need community to share with, learn from and connect to.  Women and men who bring their lived experiences and wisdom to the space. I fundamentally believe that the Divine works in us and through us when we’re willing to dig in and do the work.

The work is a labor of love for self and others.  It takes work to integrate the two aspects of our humanity that society and church keep apart – sexuality and spirituality.  There are questions to be asked, lessons to unlearn and relearn, self discoveries to be made and wisdom to be shared.

Why don’t you join me in this work?  I can’t promise neat and tidy answers or magic wands that make it all crystal clear but I can offer safe space to share, an open heart to listen and a willingness to engage.

I’ve been doing the work for a long time and trust me it is most definitely worth it.

Will you be whole?
